American Physicians Assurance Corporation (American
Physicians)
American
Physicians Assurance Corporation
Formerly Mutual Insurance Corporation Of America
(MICOA), American Physicians is a leading provider of professional
liability coverage to individual physicians, single- and multi-specialty
physician groups, and a range of physician and health care
organizations. The company's mission is to assist health care
professionals in understanding and managing risk, and to serve
as a window where they can find solutions to their insurance
needs.
The company's roots go back to the mid-1970s,
when a medical liability crisis spurred the creation of numerous
physician-sponsored insurers. American Physicians is the result
of combining three of those single-state companies: Michigan
Physicians Mutual Liability Company, Kentucky Medical Insurance
Company, and New Mexico Physicians Mutual Liability Company.
Today, American Physicians remains the top provider
of physician liability in two of its original locales and also
has expanded its reach to insure physicians in several other
states.
APSpecialty Insurance Corporation (APSpecialty)
APSpecialty is a preferred pricing company that was created to assist clients whose needs can not be accommodated by APCapital's other insurance subsidiaries. The company was previously known as RML Insurance Company.
